Sylvester Stallone will not write or direct The Expendables sequel

Even though Sylvester Stallone was basically the driving force behind getting a sequel to last year’s summer hit THE EXPENDABLES out into the public, he’s decided to take a bit of a back seat and neither direct or co-write the script. Of course, he’ll still be in the film but it looks like the reins have officially been passed to a yet unknown director and the screenplay has already been penned by David Agosto and Ken Kaufman. We still don’t know much about what the sequel will have in store for fans, but Sly has suggested that he does want to add in some more characters (Jean Claude-Van Damme anyone) and give some of the older ones less screen time (I wonder if he’s referring to himself here). There’s been some rumors that they want Bruce Willis to have a larger role as the villain, but since Arnold Schwarzenegger has so much free time on his hands, he may be the better option.

Still no word on when this will go in front of the cameras, but we’ll keep you posted.
