As the Young Adult genre continues to take over Hollywood, today we’re learning that director David Slade (THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE and HARD CANDY) will helm the upcoming film MATCHED. Based on the YA book by Ally Condie, MATCHED is set in a future society (of course) where residents are told what to read, what to watch, what to believe in and of course who to fall in love with. MATCHED will follow a young girl who decides to go against the normal and choose her own path where she will most likely find true love. MATCHED will be produced by Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot, part of the team that gave us last year’s ROCK OF AGES.
Since THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, David Slade has directed episodes for television series like: Breaking Bad, Awake, This American Housewife and Hannibal. No word on when MATCHED will begin production or casting, but stay tuned. (THR)
