Katherine Heigl is taking a bit of a different route for her next film THE KNITTING CIRCLE based on the novel by Ann Hood. Instead of setting this drama up at a studio the film will be an HBO movie. The film follows a mother who is grieving the loss of her young child. To cope with the heartaches she takes up knitting and finds a group of women who have taken up the craft for various reasons themselves. The screenplay is being adapted by Craig Wright with no director yet announced and no shooting schedule as of yet.
I’ve actually read this book and can honestly say that it’s one of the most depressing stories I have ever read, not to dissuade you or anything. I’ll be interested to see if they can strike a balance between the heartache and healing processes. Katherine Heigl can next be seen in the upcoming Garry Marshall film NEW YEAR’S EVE which will be released later this year.
