Three Stooges film is revived

After so many pitfalls, from Sean Penn taking a sabbatical from acting to MGM going into financial distress, it looked like the Farrelly brothers weren’t going to be able to make a film but today all that has changed.  Because the approval of a pre-packaged bankruptcy deal from MGM, 20th Century Fox has taken over rights to THE THREE STOOGES. Way back when this thing was first getting off the ground, Jim Carrey, Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro were in talks to play the infamous Larry, Moe and Curly but Carrey and Penn are officially out and there is no word on whether or not Del Toro is still attached.  In a statement from the Farrelly’s:

The script is ready to go, and we are opening up these roles to the world right now. We’ll make it with the best possible people. Our feeling is that no star is too big to audition and no matter who it is, we’re going to have to see him in the role.

THE THREE STOOGES film will follow the famous three from when they are dumped in front of an orphanage all the way into adulthood with slapstick ensuing throughout the film. The movie is to begin shooting on March 14, 2011.
