Adam Sandler is a successful Hollywood comedian that has been making movies for over 15 years. Justin Bieber has been famous for about 15 minutes. In fact, Adam Sandler has been making movies as long as Justin Bieber has been alive, so it seems strange that these two would wind up having movies competing for the top spot at the box office. At this point, the race is really too close to call and Sunday night’s numbers will probably be the deciding factor. However, both of them should be excited because it looks like they’ll each grab over $31 million. GNOMEO AND JULIET didn’t do bad either, taking in well over $25 million. The other new film this week was THE EAGLE, which actually did well considering the lack of promotion.
Next week sees the release of I AM NUMBER FOUR, starring the supposedly new it-boy Alex Pettyfer. I saw it a few days ago and I’ll just say I wasn’t impressed. But we also have the third installment in the Big Momma’s House series (really?) and the Liam Neeson film UNKNOWN. Note: the numbers below will be updated as they become final.
