The idea of Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell teaming up for a political comedy about two rival candidates running for office is a little strange to me. Both are hilarious comedians, but both have gained popularity playing dim-witted characters so I’m not sure how well they’ll work together. But apparently, the pitch that Ferrell and his Gary Sanchez Productions made to studios last week was so well received, no one wasted any time putting in bids, with the lucky winner being Warner Brothers. The script was written by Chris Henchy, who previously co-wrote the Will Ferrell comedy THE OTHER GUYS.
This might be a case of right pitch at the right time since the plan is to release it during the 2012 Presidential elections. It’s not clear whether Zach and Will are going to be playing Presidential candidates or maybe just local politicians. Personally, I think they could have more laughs poking fun at some of the local elections, but we’ll have to wait and see.
