Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino and Dermot Mulrony have signed on to star in the film TRADE OF INNOCENTS which will be written and directed by Christopher Bessette. The film follows a couple who are in the process of grieving the loss of their daughter who died while trying to save girls sold as slaves in the sex trade industry. The film will be shot in Southeast Asia and will begin this month and finish up next month, no word on when it will be released.
This sounds a little bit like last year’s RABBIT HOLE which starred Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart, and earned Kidman an Academy Award nomination. I don’t know if Mira Sorvino will be so lucky since the roles are so similar but the Academy does love it when film roles require so much raw emotion so we’ll see. On a side note, this sounds incredibly depressing not only because parents are grieving their kid, but because of the sex trade topic, I don’t foresee any lighthearted moments coming from this film.
