Roger Ebert is either really tough or just really loves his place in the movie industry. Even after his diagnosis of thyroid cancer, Roger Ebert didn’t stop writing reviews or hosting his show Ebert Presents at the Movies, but he has decided that he will step aside for a new generation and thus pass the torch to Ignatiy Vishnevetsky. Vishnevetsky (which will never roll off the tongue like “Ebert”) is a 24-year old movie blogger who moved from Russia to America, and then moved from Milwaukee to Chicago because of his love for film. He writes reviews for Mubi.com and is a co-founder of Cine-File.info. He will join Christy Lemire as the co-host of Ebert Presents at the Movies and Roger Ebert will do a special weekly segment.
I hope Mr. Vishnevetsky realizes how lucky he is to have landed this position. I’m sure many critics around the country would kill for this opportunity. Good luck to him.
