Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus gets a couple of screenwriters

Posted by: Kristy Sturdivant

Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan (who also wrote LEAP YEAR and MADE OF HONOR) have been hired by Summit Entertainment to pen the script for the romantic comedy MEN ARE FROM MARS, WOMEN ARE FROM VENUS. The film will be based on the famous book written in 1992 by John Gray that exposes the differences between the genders and helps people understand the opposite sex and bridge the gap. The book was a huge success and has sold over 50 million copies since its release almost 20 years ago and Kaplan and Elfont have been pegged to turn it into a feature length film.

I think this is a ridiculous idea. I haven’t read the book, but I’m assuming it follows a series of different circumstances that explain the differences between the sexes.  I predict it will follow the same idea as 2009’s HE’S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU, which I though kind of sucked. It was because it was so unfocused and had too many characters. Hopefully Kaplan and Elfont won’t go that route, but then again they did script LEAP YEAR and SURVIVING CHRISTMAS…so who really knows.
