Given the cold reception Taylor Lautner‘s first non-Twilight film ABDUCTION got at theaters, I’m guessing he’s anxious to redeem himself and prove to the world he’s more than just a six pack of abs. So the actor is going to star in and produce indie director Gus Van Sant’s next film. Gus Van Sant is an actor’s director if there every was one and if anyone can get the most out of Lautner, it’s Van Sant. What makes the movie even more intriguing is that the script is going to be written by MILK writer Dustin Lance. Not much is known about the film other than it stems from an idea Lautner got while reading the New Yorker.
This seems like a good move for Lautner, who needs some credibility after ABDUCTION and a way to prove he’s not just a teen star. I’m anxious to see what the movie is about and just how far it’s going to challenge him as an actor.
