There’s been rumors that one of the projects that Darren Aronofsky has been circling is NOAH, an edgy re-telling of Noah’s Ark. Deadline indicates that the circling is getting more serious as the script written by the director is now being shopped around.
The script is supposedly getting a rewrite from John Logan (THE LAST SAMURAI). It’s being said that Aronofsky wants to make the film for $130 million and that New Regency is thinking about co-financing. Studios interesting in the project so far are Paramount, Fox and Summit.
The story is being called a big fantasy epic; with the opportunity to allow Aronofsky to create a world. Ever since dropping out of THE WOLVERINE, the director has been hard pressed to make this film as he has been very passionate about it for awhile now. He was thinking of doing a re-telling of the story of Moses called EXODUS, but has been leaning more towards his own work with NOAH.
