Martin Scorsese looking at The Invention of Hugo Cabret for his next movie

Posted by: Brad Sturdivant

Martin Scorsese will take a break from the dark and gritty films to tackle the popular children’s book “The Invention of Hugo Cabret”. The book, written by Brian Selznick is about an orphan living in a train station that attempts to solve a mystery of a broken robot. I have never heard of the book, but apparently it’s insanely popular. What’s surprising is that it’s well over 500 pages with half of those being pictures.

Scorsese is a brilliant director, there’s no doubt about that. But it’ll be interesting to see how he handles a children’s story. If he’s going for a PG rating, he can’t have a big shoot-out, or someone dropping f-bombs every 30 seconds.
