With the possible exception of Chris Hemsworth, I’m not sure there’s an up and coming actor with a better slate of upcoming projects than Bradley Cooper. He has THE SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK coming out this fall, THE WORDS a little later, then THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES with Ryan Gosling, then a re-teaming with director David O. Russell in AMERICAN BULLSHIT and of course, the third installment in the insanely popular Hangover films. So Bradley Cooper is going to be everywhere the next couple of years and today he’s added another project to the mix with BAD BLOOD AND TROUBLE.
The film is a crime noir tale about a detective in Miami that falls in love with a married woman whose husband is on the run from some nasty criminals. It sounds a little bit like DRIVE, but without the…err…driving. I’m always game for a classic noir film and if the script is decent, Bradley Cooper should be able to deliver a good performance. J. Blakeson directed the underrated and little seen THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ALICE CREED, so he should be able to handle the crime genre.
In other Bradley Cooper news, Clint Eastwood is eying the actor to takeover the lead role in his long gestating remake of A STAR IS BORN. It seems just about every A-list actor has been attached to and subsequently turned down the lead role, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe and Will Smith among others, but Clint is determined to get this film made. Personally, I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief that Bradley Cooper dodged the reboot of THE CROW and here’s hoping better judgment prevails with this. I respect that they want to try a different angle with A STAR IS BORN, but I still can’t buy into it, even if Bradley Cooper signs on. (Variety)
