If you’ve seen any of Pedro Almodovar’s other films, such as VOLVER, TALK TO HER or BROKEN EMBRACES, then you have probably decided that you either love him or hate him. I find there’s not much room in the middle with his films. Either way, one thing is for sure with his films; they’re probably going to creep you out in some capacity. With that in mind, he may have outdid himself with THE SKIN THAT I INHABIT (LA PIEL QUE HABITO), which some translate to The Skin I Live In. It’s about a a plastic surgeon out for revenge on the man who raped his daughter. Oh, and he also keeps his wife locked up and forces her to commit sexual acts with strangers, so there’s that.
Like I said, this is probably going to be Almodovar’s crowning achievement as far as creepiness goes. The film stars Antonio Banderas, Elena Anaya, Blanca Suárez, Jan Cornet and Marisa Paredes. No release date is set, but look for it around awards season.
