We all knew Jeremy Renner was going to star alongside Tom Cruise in the next MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE film entitled MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE- GHOST PROTOCOL, but is he being groomed to carry on the franchise minus Ethan Hunt? Renner had this to say:
It’s a franchise to potentially take over. I can’t predict the future and what they want, but that’s certainly the idea. I can’t really go into the details of the script, because that’s still evolving. It’s Tom’s baby. He’s the engine behind the thing. What happens after that, we’ll see.
Renner might not be going into details but there is speculation that they may pull something similar to when Harrison Ford handed the reins over to Shia LaBeouf in INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens when the next installment hits theaters next December 16, 2011. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE-GHOST PROTOCOL will star Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner and Josh Holloway and will be directed by Brad Bird.
