Several biopics of the great musician Jimi Hendrix have been in works over the years, including one with Outkast frontrunner Andre 3000 playing the lead. These films have been dormant because it’s pretty darn tough to make a biopic of any musician, especially one as infamous as Mr. Hendrix. There are estate rights, music rights, family approval and who knows what other kinds of obstacles to contend with. However, it looks like the currently untitled project starring Andre 3000 is moving forward and the lady of the summer, Ms. Hayley Atwell, is circling a role in the film.
She states, ” Next up is possibly a Jimi Hendrix biopic — an independent film with Andre 3000 from OutKast playing Jimi Hendrix. But I don’t know, really. The Atwell team is like, Let’s just wait and see…” Intriguing, but again, don’t get your hopes up just yet as who knows what lies ahead on this rocky road. No word on when this will start or just who Ms. Atwell would portray, but as always we’ll keep you posted.
