Anthony Hopkins is in talks to play legendary filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock in a film adaptation of the book ‘Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho’ by Stephen Rebello. And really, I can’t think of any better casting than Hopkins as Hitchcock. The book followed the trials and tribulations Hitchcock faced in trying to get PSYCHO made. At the time, no one wanted to release a horror film since the genre was thought of as beneath most major studios. But Hitchcock was intent on making the film and solicited financing on his own. Today, of course, PSYCHO is widely considered one of the greatest movies ever made and credited with defining what a horror suspense film should be.
The script from John McLaughlin (BLACK SWAN) is believed to be more centered on the relationship between Hitchcock and Alma Reville, his wife. Sacha Gervasi will be handling directing duties. Hopkins can next be seen in the horror film THE RITE.
