Elle Fanning‘s star is rising as the young actress is starting to build an impressive resume. In the last couple of years she’s starred in: SOMEWHERE, TWIXT, WE BOUGHT A ZOO and SUPER 8. In the next couple of years she has lined up GINGER & ROSA, MALEFICENT, A PURE LIFE and VIVALDI, and you can go ahead and add the young adult novel adaptation OLIVE’S OCEAN to the list.
Based on the book by Kevin Henkes, OLIVE’S OCEAN follows the title character (Elle Fanning) who after learning about a classmates tragic and untimely death, goes on a summer of soul searching after discovering the classmate secretly wanted to become her friend. Sounds like a pretty good coming-of-age story that could catapult Elle Fanning into more great films as the lead actress. There’s no director attached for OLIVE’S OCEAN yet, but the screenplay is being written by Christina Hammonds Reed at this time. (Deadline)
