Dwayne Johnson looking to take on DC comic character Lobo

Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Johnson (formerly The Rock) has decided to go the comic book route and is looking to bring the DC comic character Lobo to the big screen with director Brad Peyton (JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND). For those unfamiliar with Lobo (like me) here’s a brief rundown: Lobo is a intersteller bounty hunter and mercenary who was touted as a anti-hero biker. He was populer in the 1980s and was supposed to be DC’s answer to the Marvel character of Wolverine. Lobo was a regular character in the Green Lantern spin-off Omega Man and has found much success in parody type comics like Lobocop (a RoboCop parody) as well as Paramilitary Christmas Special (where is hired by the Easter Bunny to take out Santa Claus). It seems Lobo’s history is long and colorful, so it’ll be interesting to see where Warner Bros. and Brad Peyton go with the character.

Dwayne Johnson can be seen next in the sequel G.I. JOE: RETALIATION which was supposed to come out next month but got pushed back until March 29th, 2013. Not a good sign, but Dwayne Johnson has some other potentially good films underway including: SNITCH, EMPIRE STATE and THE FASTAND THE FURIOUS 6. (Twitter)
