D.J. Caruso, best know for directing the films EAGLE EYE, DISTURBIA and TWO FOR THE MONEY, has been signed on to direct the sci-fi film I AM NUMBER FOUR. Based on a children’s book published by HarperCollins Children’s Books, the story follows nine teenage aliens who find themselves on Earth after their home planet is destroyed. While adjusting to a new life the title character (Number Four, I presume) finds himself being tracked by the same bad guy that destroyed his planet. The screenplay is written by Al Gough and Miles Millar and will be produced by Michael Bay.
For a kids film this doesn’t sound too terrible but slightly similar to the stories of RACE TO WITCHMOUNTAIN and that television show Roswell. However, I’m sure some decent action scenes will be provided thanks to Mr. Bay’s participation.
