Vera Farmiga and Mark Strong are set to star together in the period drama CLOSER TO THE MOON. Directed by Nae Caranfil, the film will be set in communist Romania and follows Max Rosenthal (Strong) who is a former investigator for the Bucharest police that, along with four other prominent Jewish men in the community, pulls off a bank heist under the guise of making a movie. The men are sentenced to death, but before they receive their punishment they are forced to reenact the crime for a propaganda film. Farmiga will play Rosenthal’s former lover and mother of their child who returns to Romania in the midst of the drama. Production is scheduled to begin this fall, but no release date has been set.
Vera Farmiga can be seen next with Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds in SAFE HOUSE, which opens in theaters February 10, 2012.
