Mark Wahlberg is going back to the world of video games. He has confirmed that he will be portraying Nathan Drake which is the main character from the Playstation video game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Not only will Wahlberg being playing that character, but he will be directed by David O. Russell (who has also worked with Wahlberg on THREE KINGS, I HEART HUCKABEE and the upcoming THE FIGHTER). Are you surprised that David O. Russell would direct a video game adaptation? Hold onto your socks people, he is also trying to get Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci on board to play Drake’s father and uncle respectively. Long gone are the lame video game films from the past, because David O. Russell is a heavy hitter that is bound to make this film worth watching.
I have already spouted my love for Mark Wahlberg in MAX PAYNE, so it’s no surprise that I’m looking forward to this film as well. Everyone has to have guilty pleasures and if mine happen to be video game films then so be it. Plus another opportunity for a shirtless Mark Wahlberg is something I’ll never turn down.
