I guess if you’re going to take a chance on a big budget religious epic, it’s a good idea to get a proven A-list actor to help carry your film. Darren Aronofsky feels the same way, which is why he’s looking at Christian Bale as the lead in his ambitious upcoming project NOAH. The film is set with a $130 million budget and would be a dark retelling of the classic biblical tale of Noah’s Ark. Aronofsky has enlisted the help of famed comic book artist Nico Henrichon to do some of the visual designs and he already has New Regency signed on to pay half the budget. If everything gets signed, then this would presumably be Bale’s next film, after he finishes shooting THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.
The pairing of Aronofsky and Bale makes perfect sense as the two are notorious risk takers, but also have an eye for films that the general public will appreciate. Hopefully, it will be better than EVAN ALMIGHTY, but that’s not really saying much.
