Gerard Butler has been picked to star in the upcoming thriller THE BRICKLAYER, which is based on the novel by former FBI agent Noah Boyd (which is actually a pseudonym for Paul Lindsay). The film is being adapted for the screen by Hanna Weg and follows a former rogue FBI agent who currently works as a bricklayer in Chicago. When a group of criminals start demanding multi-million dollar ransom payments at an increasing rate, the FBI pulls Steve Vail (Butler) back into the fold to help take down the gang. So far Butler is the only actor cast, but there is another lead role for a female that will be part of the FBI team and working with Vail. Anyone have any thoughts on who should take this part? My mind immediately goes to Naomi Watts because we know she can pull off the role of smart agent. No word on when THE BRICKLAYER will start shooting, but look for more casting news in the next couple of months.
Gerard Butler can be seen next in the Marc Forster film MACHINE GUN PREACHER which should be opening either late this year or early next.
