The long awaited sequel to J.J. Abrams’ STAR TREK is well underway and although it has already lost Benicio del Toro as the lead villain, it has found a replacement in the form of up and coming British actor Benedict Cumberbatch.  If you went to the theater some time in the past few months, you may have seen Cumberbatch as he seems to be very popular these days.  Just recently, he starred in WAR HORSE and TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY and has THE HOBBIT films lined up for later in the year.  Well, you can STAR TREK to his list of upcoming films as well.

Also joining the cast that includes new additions Alice Eve and Peter Weller, along with vets Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg and Zoe Saldana is ‘Doctor Who’ star Noel Clarke, who is only said to be playing a “family man”.  So of course, that could mean anything.  STAR TREK 2 is slated to hit theaters on May 17th, 2013.
