Orlando Bloom might return for Pirates of the Caribbean 5

The fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie isn’t slated to come out until the summer of 2017, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start speculating about what the franchise has in store for us.  There were many problems with the fourth film, but one of the biggest complaints was that the film lacked the “everyman” story to counter Depp’s crazy Jack Sparrow.  It looks like Disney might go back to the original trilogy to fill that void as Orlando Bloom is apparently being sought to return to the Pirates franchise.  But if you remember where we left off with the third Pirates film, it doesn’t really seem like Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner can fulfill that “everyman” role anymore.  While speaking at the Oz Comic Con, Orlando Bloom had this to say to The Daily Mail:

There have certainly been some discussions about it and I’m open to it, that whole experience working with Johnny Depp and director Gore Verbinski was really amazing for me. I had a great time working with Johnny. One of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity to be in the first ‘Pirates of The Caribbean’ was because Johnny was involved. I was such a massive fan of Johnny Depp growing up, so to get up close and personal and see how he worked as an actor was just a massive gift.

It’s very unclear what kind of role he would have in the film, especially without Keira Knightley’s Elizabeth Swann returning as well.  But I like the idea of bringing Bloom back since I always found his and Swann’s storyline much more interesting than anything Jack Sparrow did.  But right now, Johnny Depp is the only know actor starring in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5.
