Lily Collins or Keira Knightley may portray Rosaline in new spin-off of Romeo and Juliet

It looks like a spin-off of the William Shakespeare tragedy “Romeo and Juliet” is on its way to the big screen and will be written from the perspective of Rosaline and will be called ROSALINE (clever). You may remember her as being the girl that Romeo was completely infatuated with before he laid his eyes upon Juliet (teenage boys are so fickle). Anyway, a book from Rosaline’s point-of-view is being written by Rebecca Serles (and is actually called When You Were Mine), and while it hasn’t been published just yet a film is on the way. It looks like it will be directed by Michael Sucsy and as of right now the two females who have had their names thrown into the ring (whether they wanted to or not) is Keira Knightley and Lily Collins. Now, keep in mind that this is in such an early stage of development that there is a very good chance that neither of these two ladies will end up being attached, but you never know and rumor has it that the studio is really pushing to get Ms. Knightley.

The story of ROSALINE will be in a contemporary high-school setting  and will follow the story of Romeo and Juliet’s love tale from the eyes of the girl who didn’t get the guy and ended up with Romeo’s cousin Benvolio. No word on when production will begin, but look for additional news in the upcoming months.
