Sean Bean, Dougray Scott and Robert Vaughan set for The Magnificent Eleven

We just got word that Russell Brand was doing a soccer movie and now we learn that the classic Yul Brenner film THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN will get an updated telling, soccer style, in THE MAGNIFICENT ELEVEN.  In this version “the Cowboys are a local amateur soccer team, the Indians run a nearby Tandoori restaurant and the bandits are a group of menacing thugs run by a maniac called Blonde Bob.”

I had to lift that quote directly because there’s no way I could have said that any better.  I’m actually one of the few Americans that follow international soccer and I’ve wanted more soccer movies for a while.  But the Brand movie didn’t do much for me and this one feels like it could get silly pretty quick.  Is it too much to ask for a good, dramatic soccer movie?  And the GOAL wasn’t that bad.
