J.J. Abrams is officially ready to direct Star Trek 2

Posted by: Zack Bruce

Get ready to geek out–J.J. Abrams has finally committed to doing STAR TREK 2. No more “maybe later” or “still working on it”, no more excuses. We are officially seeing some movement on the sequel.

Pre-production has begun and the script will be done at the end of the month. Shooting on the film will start this winter. You’re probably thinking, “Well, hasn’t he been committed to it?” Yeah, but he never gave a date, there was always something deterring him from actually ding the film. Now there’s a date in place along with an official word on the subject as whole.

Abrams really isn’t the problem though. Alex Kurtzman, one of the co-writers on the first STAR TREK has been busy with his directorial debut, WELCOME TO THE PEOPLE. Now that he’s done with that he can finally get around to helping his partner in scribe, Roberto Orci, Trek fans, we can boldly go where no one has gone before…again.
