We learned last July that Meryl Streep would be playing Margaret Thatcher in the biopic entitled THE IRON LADY and today we find out some of the actors who will be surrounding her in office. First up is Anthony Head, best known for playing Giles on BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (which is the best show ever, but that is neither here nor there), who will play Geoffrey Howe who was Thatcher’s longest serving Cabinet member. Next is Richard E. Grant, who most recently played the father in THE NUTCRACKER IN 3D, will play Michael Heseltine who is known for being one of Thatcher’s rivals. And lastly, Roger Allam, last seen in TAMARA DREWE, will play political strategist Gordon Reece.
THE IRON LADY will be directed by Phyllida Llyod and is set to hit theaters this coming December. And I’m sure this goes without saying, but keep this on your to see list because we all know how much the Academy loves Meryl Streep so she’s practically a shoe-in for next year’s awards season.
