With several low-budget roles under his belt and now that he’s cemented as Captain America, Chris Evans has some pull in Hollywood to start doing what he wants. And Chris Evans wants to direct. So the talented actor will mark his directorial debut with the low budget drama 1:30 TRAIN. The film has a bit of a BEFORE SUNRISE vibe to it and will feature two strangers in a train station that start talking to each other and enjoy a night of blissful conversation, all the while awaiting their train. We don’t know who the female lead will be yet, but Chris Evans will not only be directing the film, but he’ll also be starring as the male lead. He’ll be doing all of this before he dons the Stars and Stripes suit for THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.
This is a great move for Chris Evans since he’s had a desire to direct for a while. The film isn’t too big that it will overwhelm him and the plot doesn’t sound so complicated that it could create some potholes for a first time director. A simple, straightforward, romantic love story is a good move for a first time director and I’m anxious to see how this one turns out. Production should get underway quickly. (Deadline)
