Matthew McConaughey to star in The Dallas Buyer's Club

THE DALLAS BUYER’S CLUB is one of those films in Hollywood that you hear about off and on through the years. Big named stars (like Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling) come and go, it gets a rewrite, a director boards and leaves and it never really comes to fruition, until now. Matthew McConaughey is now set to star in the drama to be directed by Jean Marc Vallee. The story is set in the 1980’s and follows Ron Woodroof, a heterosexual electrician in Dallas who is diagnosed with AIDS and is given a few months to live. He wouldn’t accept the prognosis and started trafficking (then) illegal AIDS medications and handing them out to as many fellow AIDS patients as possible until he died six years later. No word on when production on the film will start.

I think Matthew McConaughey is one of those actors that can do really good work if he has the right role, but he usually doesn’t take those roles. I’m interested to see what he can do with this character and this range of emotion.
