I have a hard time keeping up with all the latest game releases. The last thing I bought was Gears of War 3. But so many more great games are about to come out: Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Forza, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim, and several others. One that recently hit that I’ve been wanting to play is Dead Island. This decision based on the trailers which are the most gut wrenching thing I’ve seen in a long time. The truth is though, the game does not revolve around the story presented in the trailer.
Today, Lionsgate sent out a press release announcing that they would be distributing a Dead Island movie. The actual game centers on vacationers are enjoying their time on a remote island when a zombie outbreak spreads. Basically they have to use what they find of the island to defend themselves. It’s SURVIVORMAN for zombies. Or the end of the DAWN OF THE DEAD remake.
The film is in very early development with Sean Daniel (THE MUMMY, TOMBSTONE) set to produce. There is no writer or director attached or mentioned. They want to stay as close as they can to the feeling that the trailer gave. It will be interesting to see where they go with it.
