Mark Ruffalo wants to be a part of Star Wars: Episode VIII

As we all know in Hollywood, it’s not about what you know, it’s all about who you know. And when it comes to the upcoming Star Wars movies, it helps if you know someone on the inside. In Mark Ruffalo’s case, it would seem he’s set when it comes to connections to Star Wars. For starters, he’s an integral part of Disney’s Marvel franchise after playing Bruce Banner in THE AVENGERS, but what might be more important is his connection to the director of STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII, Rian Johnson. Most people know Johnson for his great sci-fi film, LOOPER, but he also directed the criminally underrated BROTHERS BLOOM, which starred Mark Ruffalo. According to Ruffalo, he sent the below email to Rian Johnson: “Rian, congratulations on everythying you’ve been doing. And by the way, if there’s a part in Star Wars, please, anything, please consider considering me to join you.”
That “email” sounds a little tongue in cheek, but it also seems like Ruffalo wants to be a part of the movie somehow. So what do you think about Mark Ruffalo joining the Star Wars universe? I like Ruffalo as an actor and believe he could pull off anything Johnson asked of him, so it sounds like a good fit. I’m okay with it as long as there’s a logical role for him and they don’t just write something so Ruffalo can play with a lightsabre (ala, Samuel L. Jackson as Mace Windu in the prequels).
