It has been confirmed that Tom Hanks will star in the film TRIPLE FRONTIER, the next film directed by Kathryn Bigelow after her big win last year with THE HURT LOCKER. No other cast has been set, but really, after Tom Hanks signs on to anything everyone who’s anyone will come running to join the party. The film will be set in South America in a section called “la triple frontera”, which is a border area between Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina that is difficult to monitor by security which leaves it open to organized crime. They are hoping to start shooting in March of next year.
Even though THE HURT LOCKER got so much critical acclaim, I was underwhelmed by the entire film so I’m looking forward to Kathryn Bigleow’s next project. If she’s already teaming with a living legend like Tom Hanks her career is sure to be long and successful, I just hope the story is a little more focused this time.
