If you haven’t seen the 1983 version of TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE, I suggest you do. There were four segments done by different directors including: George Miller, Joe Dante, Steven Spielberg, and John Landis. The final segment which was directed by Miller was the most terrifying of all. I remember the first time I got on a plane, I kept staring out the window wondering when a demon was going to rip the plane apart.
For the past few months, a new TWILIGHT ZONE movie has been brewing in the pipeline. This one will only have one director and a single storyline. What’s the fun in that? Wasn’t the point of the series to showcase several different strange stories? Sounds sort of silly to me, unless a bunch of things happen to a single character or there’s several characters who come together under strange circumstances.
Warner Brothers is out looking for directors now. Christopher Nolan, Michael Bay and Alfonso Cuaron are all on the short list as potential directors. David Yates was a strong contender at one point but apparently his chances aren’t as great. I’m sure that is due to his schedule. There’s also the possibility that RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES director Rupert Wyatt could take on helming duties as well.
