Will Smith and Denzel Washington may team up for Uptown Saturday Night

UPTOWN SATURDAY NIGHT is one of those films that’s been hanging out in Hollywood for a couple of years just waiting for the right person to pick it up and get it going again, and now someone has. Screenwriter Tim Dowling is doing a little rewrite to the remake of the 1974 film that has two friends who head uptown to find some thieves who have snagged their winning lottery ticket. Will Smith has been attached to star in this for awhile and now it looks like Denzel Washington is starting to circle the comedy being directed by David Dobkin. This appears to still be in the early development stages, as rewrites will have to go through the actors and if Smith doesn’t like what he sees he may walk, but for right now the train is moving forward.

I think it would be nice to see both Smith and Washington take on a comedic role. Both of them have been very somber in their most recent movies and sometimes you just need to make the audience laugh to get them to fall back in love with you.
