I have to admit that I’m a little tired of the assassin-on-the run schtick. I feel like we’ve seen far too many movies that have taken that basic idea and explored every possibility with it. So even though I’m a big fan of George Clooney, I have to admit I’m not that pumped for his next film, THE AMERICAN. In the film, Clooney plays an assassin, doing the “last job” before he “gets out” and of course, he gets distracted/attached and finds himself fighting his way out. Along with Clooney, the film stars Bruce Altman, Violante Placido, Thekla Reuten and Paolo Bonacelli. Anton Corbiin is directing.
Maybe this will be different since it’s Clooney, but it just feels like something we’ve seen too many times before.
