Take a look at Tim Burton's black and white world in these first stills from Frankenweenie

I sense that there are good things ahead for Tim Burton. It’s been a good long while since I’ve really thoroughly enjoyed a film that he’s put out. As a kid I really loved his movies but his schtick got old for me especially after viewings as an adult. I always wanted him to do more films like BIG FISH.

His upcoming films may not be a big departure but they do look good. First up will be FRANKENWEENIE, a stop motion animated film much like A NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. This is not the first time that this story has made it to film. There was a live-action version made in 1984 made by Burton that wound up getting banned by Disney because it was too scary for kids. On top of all this they actually fired the director saying that he “wasted resources”. It’s a weird situation.

Luckily for Burton, he got a second try and decided to go with some stop motion instead. The first stills from the film show the director’s black and white film as well as the four legged star.
