Ten movies where the bad guys are from North Korea

3. Red Dawn (2012) – My favorite example of the bunch, the bad guys in RED DAWN were actually digitally changed to North Koreans at the last minute, which is a move that seems comical now, even though it only happened a few years ago. The movie is terrible and doesn’t explain how North Korea managed to invade America, but thankfully, Chris Hemsworth saved us all.

2. DIE ANOTHER DAY (2002) – Maybe the worst Bond movie of the Brosnan era was also one that pitted our favorite spy against the entire North Korean regime. North Korea actually released a statement condemning the film, but the real insult was to American audiences, who had to suffer through another haphazard Bond film. Although this isn’t a comedy, the villains are over-the-top comical, but surprisingly, North Korea didn’t seem too upset about it.

The Interview

1. The Interview (2014) – This film will go down in history as one of the most infamous movies of all time and the general public hasn’t even seen it yet. Whatever your opinion of the situation, the point of this list is that this is not the first time North Korea has been the bad guys in a film. And this is only one of two films on this list that’s a comedy, which I think might make it more insulting to the North Koreans. Maybe it’s the assassination attempt or maybe it was just bad timing, but for some reason, this film struck a chord with the North Korean dictator that prior films have not. Hopefully, we’ll get to see it someday.
