Ten reasons why Joseph Gordon-Levitt should be the next Batman

5. There are so many more Batman stories to tell – You could make 20 more great Batman movies and never once mention The Joker, Bane or Scarecrow. I never liked Robin, but he did have some good storylines in the comics and having JGL as Batman allows you to merge some of Robin’s stories into the Batman films without actually having Robin appear. Since Blake’s world is already established, there’s no need to reuse any of the villains or waste time on an origins story.
4. They’re running out of time on the Justice League movie – There were many things that made THE AVENGERS great, but one of them was the fact that Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Hulk all had their own movies before they became The Avengers. As it stands now, only Superman will have his own film before the Justice League movie (depending on what they do with Green Lantern). And I can’t imagine a Justice League movie being the place to introduce a whole new Batman. If they stick with Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Batman, then they not only have the Justice League set up, but they have future Batman movies set up as well.
3. We need a different type of Batman post-Nolan – Christian Bale was incredible as Batman. But he was miserable, brooding and grumpy. Fans of the comics know that this is usually how Batman is, but he can also be sarcastic, charming and even funny. We haven’t seen this type of Batman for a while (Keaton kind of played Wayne like this). Blake doesn’t come with the baggage that Bruce Wayne came with and that could be refreshing for Batman fans.
2. Continuity – I really don’t want to start over with Batman. I think we can all agree that Nolan’s Batman trilogy will probably go down as the greatest superhero trilogy of all time. Let’s not start over with a new origins story and new actors. Nolan set everything up perfectly, so let’s stick with what we have and build on it.
1. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is great – He’s a talented, charming actor with an extremely wide range. He’s also a fan favorite that will have support from the hard to please fanboy community. Even if he hadn’t appeared in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, I would probably push for him to play Batman because I’m such a big fan of his. Batman is a demanding character and Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s resume proves he can do anything.
