Ten things they have to get right in the Superman vs Batman movie
3. Don’t let Ben Affleck go all Ben Affleck on us: Take his performance in THE TOWN and compare it to what you’ve seen from RUNNER RUNER. In THE TOWN, he’s reserved, powerful and incredibly charismatic, despite being a bank robber. In RUNNER RUNNER, he looks like he’s a frat boy partying with friends while someone films him. That’s what you get with Ben Affleck. As important as it is that Affleck help Snyder with his direction, Snyder is going to have to find a way to get the best performance from Affleck.
2. Pick someone at DC to make the calls, and not Zack Snyder: One of the things that makes Marvel so successful is that Kevin Feige runs the business side and Joss Whedon runs the creative side for the properties (in essence). DC and Warner Bros. don’t have that. We thought it might be Christopher Nolan, but MAN OF STEEL taught us that wasn’t the case and he’s detached himself from DC. There seems to be a void of leadership over there and they need that fixed before they make another movie.
1. Re-think that idea of not using Frank Miller’s story: They quoted the story in the press release, but then quickly followed it up by saying they’re not following it. I don’t think they can write a better story of Superman vs. Batman than his ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ and why even try? The story is right there for the taking, so make a few tweaks if you have to, but it would behoove them to stick to it as close as they can.
