The Dark Knight Rises will not show The Gangster Squad trailer before film

Gangster Squad

A big stink is being made to Warner Bros executives today at the continued placement of a trailer for THE GANGSTER SQUAD, starring Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling, before THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. The trailer in question shows a scene where one of the mobsters from LA shoots up a theater full of viewers during a movie from behind the screen. Obviously this is an unacceptable trailer considering the tragedy that just happened, but apparently Warner Bros execs didn’t decide to pull the trailer until reporter Nikki Finke from Deadline Hollywood sent them an email.  They responded with, “There’s a meeting about this and then a decision will be reached.” They did end up pulling the trailer, but only after several complaints and a meeting later. I understand their motivation to make money and promote their films, but this is poor taste from Warner Bros.  Check out THE GANGSTER SQUAD trailer in question below.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is the third and final Batman film from director Christopher Nolan and stars: Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. (Deadline)
