The Descendants, Michael Fassbender and Michelle Williams voted best of the year by the Florida Film Critics

The awards are coming out in full force now that the year is drawing to a close and the latest critics society to announce the winners is the Florida Film Critics Circle (and one that’s near and dear to my heart).  This year, the FFCC voted THE DESCENDANTS as the best picture of the year, while Michael Fassbender and Michelle Williams were voted the Best Actor and Best Actress for SHAME and MY WEEK WITH MARILYN respectively.

As for surprises, there were a few.  Shailene Woodley was voted Best Supporting Actress for her turn in THE DESCENDANTS and Martin Scorsese was voted Best Director for his work on HUGO.  But the win that pleases me most is Albert Brooks picking up Best Supporting Actor for DRIVE.  Here’s hoping DRIVE can maintain enough momentum to get some recognition at the Oscars.
