The first look at Charlize Theron in Jason Reitman's Young Adult

Charlize Theron is a wonderful actress. In fact, she may be in my top ten as far as favorite actresses go. After looking at this still from YOUNG ADULT, I’m wondering how this is all going to play out. Not because of Theron but because the film was scripted by Diablo Cody. Does this mean I don’t like Diablo Cody’s writing? No, it’s just aimed a little more at the female crowd. There are also too many hip references that I don’t get. Wow, I sound really old right now.
Theron’s appearance in this photo screams early life crisis–the Hello Kitty shirt, a small dog in a bag, giant sunglasses. Okay, so she really just looks like the average mall chick or some girl walking out in Hollywood. Theron’s character in the film writes teen novels so maybe the process has rubbed off on here.
Official synopsis: Academy Award winner Charlize Theron plays Mavis Gary, a writer of teen literature who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and attempt to reclaim her happily married high school sweetheart (Patrick Wilson). When returning home proves more difficult than she thought, Mavis forms an unusual bond with a former classmate (Patton Oswalt) who hasn’t quite gotten over high school, either.
