The first The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug trailer has arrived

Although we have a lot of summer movies I’m still anxious to see perform at the box office, perhaps the biggest question mark of the holiday season is THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG. With the lukewarm reception of THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, I’m curious if fans will show up for the second part of the trilogy. I’m sure the film will be successful based on the title alone, but Peter Jackson and company have a lot to makeup to their Tolkein fans. The first trailer has hit the web and you can watch it in the player below. Do you see enough to give The Hobbit a second chance?
THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG will follow the Dwarves, Bilbo (who now has the one ring to rule them all) and Gandalf as they continue their journey to get their gold back from the Dragon, Smaug. Directed by Peter Jackson, the film will star Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee, Benedict Cumberbatch, Luke Evans, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Cate Blanchett, Andy Serkis, Aidan Turner, Hugo Weaving and a bunch more. The second part of The Hobbit trilogy will hit theaters December 13th.
