The Hobbit trilogy gets updated titles and release dates
So are we happy or frustrated that Peter Jackson turned J.R.R. Tolkein’s ‘The Hobbit’ into three films? Fan reaction seems to be mixed, with some craving as much Middle Earth as they can get and others concerned that there’s not enough material to make three films (even though Peter Jackson has said he’s going to be using notes and supplemental material to fill in the gaps). Well, regardless of how you feel, they’re happening and today we get updated titles and release dates for all three films. The first part in the series is still titled THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY and will still hit theaters December 14th, 2012. But the second film, which was called THE HOBBIT: THERE AND BACK AGAIN is now going to be called THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG and will hit theaters on December 13th, 2013. Finally, the third and final film is going to be called THE HOBBIT: THERE AND BACK AGAIN and will be released on July 18th, 2014.
THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY stars Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood, Evangeline Lilly, Andy Serkis, Richard Armitage, Bret McKenzie, Luke Evans, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott, Jeffrey Thomas, Aidan Turner, Billy Connolly, James Nesbitt and Lee Pace.
