The Lone Ranger, with Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer and Helena Bonham Carter, will ride after all

Two months after Disney balked at the enormously high price tag for Gore Verbinski’s THE LONE RANGER, it appears they’re back in the saddle again after all.  Originally, the film just couldn’t get its budget under $250 million and Disney wasn’t willing to go over $200 million.  But it looks like things have been ironed out and everything is signed.  Production is set to begin on February 6th, 2012.  Hopefully, they removed some of the supernatural twists in the film and scaled it back to match the more traditional show.  We don’t need another COWBOYS & ALIENS on our hands.

The original cast included Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Ruth Wilson, Dwight Yoakam, Helena Bonham Carter, James Badge Dale and Barry Pepper.  It was also slated to hit theaters on December 21st, 2012, but that date will inevitably be pushed back.
