The Social Network, Black Swan and Inception among Writer's Guild Nominations

In my mind, there are four organizations that matter during awards time and they are: The Writer’s Guild of America, The Golden Globes, The Broadcast Film Critic’s Awards and, of course, The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. We’ve heard the nominations from two already and today the WGA has thrown in their picks for the 2011 Best Screenplays, Best Adapted Screenplays and Best Documentary Screenplays. Now, late last month the WGA disqualified several big contenders for 2011 because these screenplays did not meet their requirements (which like it or not, rules are rules), so you will not see the following films anywhere on the list: BIUTIFUL, TOY STORY 3, BLUE VALENTINE, THE KING’S SPEECH, ANOTHER YEAR, THE GHOST WRITER, MADE IN DAGENHAM, WINTER’S BONE and SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD. So keep that in mind when you check out the following list.
Nominated films for Best Screenplay include: BLACK SWAN, THE FIGHTER, INCEPTION, PLEASE GIVE and THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT. Nominated films for Best Adapted Screenplay are: THE SOCIAL NETWORK, 127 HOURS, I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS, TRUE GRIT and THE TOWN. The nominated films for Best Documentary Screenplay are: FREEDOM RIDERS, INSIDE JOB, GASLAND, ENEMIES OF THE PEOPLE, THE TWO ESCOBARS and WHO IS HARRY NILSSON (AND WHY IS EVERYBODY TALKIN’ ABOUT HIM)? The WGA will award its winners on February 5th, 2011.
