The writers for Ed Wood are hired to script Ridley Scott's Monopoly movie

Posted by: Zack Bruce

I truly respect Ridley Scott, but I’m really not understanding the pursuit of the MONOPOLY movie. Universal dropped the project yet Scott and Hasbro continue on. There are so many other subjects you could be spending time on as a legendary director.

I never got an official synopsis or even a tentative one. I heard that it would be a more literal version as if the game was brought into real life. On top of that, it’s supposed to be fun. Fun translates to corny. Maybe Scott just wanted to do something off the wall.

Somehow Scott and Hasbro reeled in writers Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski to pen the script. Okay, now I’m starting to get curious. The pitch for this had to be amazing for these guys to come in. Together they’ve written scripts for THE PEOPLE VS. LARRY FLYNT, ED WOOD, MAN ON THE MOON and 1408. I feel like I have no other choice but to give it a chance. There were no other details. Let’s hope a synopsis comes soon.
